New Zealand and South Pacific participate in global ground-breaking celebrations on Guru Purnima Day, 29 July 2007

29 July 2007

Leaders of the Global Country of World Peace in New Zealand participated in the global ground-breaking ceremony on the auspicious day of Guru Purnima, 29 July. In addition, several New Zealand teachers of Transcendental Meditation flew to various countries in the Pacific to simultaneously break ground in the surrounding islands—thereby ensuring that all countries were represented in this extraordinary event, unique in the history of mankind.

Dr Graeme Lodge, National Leader, along with other New Zealand representatives of the Global Country of World Peace and Founders of Invincibility, conducted the festivities held on the land at the Maharishi Spiritual Capital of New Zealand, while those who had travelled across the Pacific proceeded with similar ceremonies.

Dr David Lovell-Smith, from Christchurch, performed the ceremony in Tonga. Mr Michael Kennedy performed the ceremony in Tuvalu. Hasan Ali performed the ceremony in Fiji. Mr Stephen Benner, from Tauranga, performed the ceremony on the island of the Global Country of World Peace in Vanuatu.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Global Country of World Peace, addressed the group and thoroughly congratulated everyone on their great success. Maharishi quoted a Vedic Sutra which means: if you know the first word and the last word, you know everything in between. New Zealand was the first time zone to celebrate and Samoa, although of very similar longitude, is across the International Date Line from New Zealand, and is therefore one day behind.

Thus, Maharishi said that by celebrating the beginning and end of the globe, New Zealand was celebrating the total globe. All felt truly blessed by Maharishi's words of encouragement for Global Invincibility.

Finally, some 24 hours after stating Guru Puja in New Zealand, Mr Wayne Perkins, from Auckland, began the ceremony in Samoa. Thus, as Maharishi had commented earlier in the day, the New Zealand leaders had started and ended the Guru Purnima celebrations.

In all the locations in the South Pacific, everybody reported enjoying a glorious, blissfully sublime feeling during the whole ceremony, followed by a wonderful banquet, before listening to Rudrabhishek (peace-creating performance by Vedic Pandits) live on the new Maharishi Channel. All immensely enjoyed hearing the great Vedic Pandits live from India, who were linked by video conferencing. The whole day was overflowing with blissful enjoyment.
