New Zealand and South Pacific participate in global ground-breaking celebrations on Guru Purnima Day, 29 July 2007

New Zealand's National Anthem was sung first in Maori and then in English in recognition of the indigenous culture of New Zealand. Guru Puja (the ceremony of gratitude to the Vedic Tradition) was performed inside to avoid the heavy rain, however, at the exact moment Guru Puja began, the sun broke through the clouds, filling the room with golden sunshine.
