Maharishi University of Enlightenment celebrates second commencement in live global broadcast

19 July 2007

On 19 July 2007 Maharishi University of Enlightenment (MUE) conducted its second commencement during a special live global broadcast on the Maharishi Channel from Maharishi Vedic City, Iowa, USA; Meru, Holland; and other locations around the world. The ceremonies also featured a global celebration of Consciousness-Based Education for Mothers in Every Generation.

Maharishi University of Enlightenment was founded in 1998 to provide ladies with a university education that develops enlightenment, total knowledge of Natural Law. It is the first ladies' Vedic University authorized to grant BA, MA, and PhD degrees in Maharishi Vedic Science, the science of consciousness.

During the beautiful and inspiring ceremony, MUE conferred upon its graduating students degrees in Maharishi Vedic Science: two Bachelor of Arts degrees, four Master of Arts Degrees, and one Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree. The university also conferred six honorary doctoral degrees. These degrees are unique in that they reflect the qualities of an MUE education: not only academic excellence but also rapid progress toward the state of enlightenment. As the President of the university explained in her opening remarks, enlightenment fulfils the highest goal of education, unfoldment of the full potential of human consciousness, total brain functioning.

Dr Alice Settle gave the commencement address. Dr Settle is a distinguished retired educator who in 2006 co-founded the Howard and Alice Settle Foundation for an Invincible America, to provide the scholarship support for a permanent large coherence-creating group of Yogic Flyers in the United States. She described how Maharishi Vedic Science gives the keys to live life in enlightenment and make the ultimate contribution to society. (read more)
