Tour for Consciousness-Based Education in Canada

November 2006

In October and November 2006, a tour promoting Maharishi’s Consciousness-Based Education and Maharishi’s Transcendental Meditation Programme (TM) in schools, was very enthusiastically received in twelve Canadian cities. Conference members were Dr Ashley Deans, astrophysicist and life-long educator; The Honourable Dr Clarence Cormier, former Education Minister for the Province of New Brunswick; and Dr Jean-Paul Gagné, Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at LaSalle General Hospital in Montreal.

The tour made presentations in Moncton, Halifax, Vancouver, Nanaimo, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Hamilton, Mississauga, Ottawa, and Montreal. In each city, administrators and teachers were eager to learn about Consciousness-Based Education programmes.

Presentations were also given to the Canadian Council of Learning and educators from First Nation. In January 2007, the conference members returned to Victoria to address students and faculty at Lester B. Pearson College and the University of Victoria.

At each conference, Dr Ashley Deans spoke about his fifteen years as Director of the award-winning Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment in Fairfield, Iowa where TM is practised twice daily. He expressed his fulfilment in seeing each student’s full potential being awakened through Consciousness-Based Education. He said that students, parents, and educators all receive enormous benefits of this educational system. (read more)
