26 May 2011

The Maharishi Vedic Pandits programme in India has expanded rapidly in recent years, and Consciousness-Based Education initiatives are being launched in conjunction with the Vedic Pandit groups. Dr Girish Varma, Director-General of the project at the Brahmasthan, and director of Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Programme in India, reported on the progress of building the campus and expanding the group of Vedic Pandits.

At the Brahmasthan (geographic centre) of India, the Maharishi Vedic Pandit project, founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, is comprised of a campus that has grown to over 1,000 acres; with space for over 20,000 Vedic Pandits. In total there are now 7,000 Vedic Pandits in 47 residential campuses throughout India. The Pandits conduct special Vedic performances to promote peace, progress, and invincibility for every nation, as well as creating coherence and harmony in world consciousness through their group practice of Maharishi's technologies of consciousness.

In addition to the Pandit groups, there are now 152 Maharishi Vidya Mandir Schools in 16 Indian states with 104,000 students, 40,000 of whom are practising Yogic Flying.

In the centre of India, the main Pandit's campus will expand in several planned phases, to eventually accomodate large groups of Vedic Pandits. Adjacent to the Pandit campus is another area that hosts visitors from around the world participating in special World Peace Assemblies. The purpose of the assemblies is to create an effect of coherence, harmony, and peace in world consciousness through group practice of Transcendental Meditation and the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme.

Construction has just been completed of the beautiful Bijauari Campus for international assemblies. Guests enjoy comfortable suites with western style facilities. The campus features a quiet pastoral setting, with 10,000 fruit trees in its vicinity. Planning is underway to farm 1,000 acres in the campus area, producing organic food for guests and residents.
