One group learned the Transcendental Meditation Programme and the other group, the control group, did not. Over a period of several years, before individuals in the first group learned TM, both groups showed increasing medical expenditures. After learning TM, medical care utilization dropped approximately 13% per year in this group. In comparison to the control group, the decrease was more than 15% per year. 'When you add that up over three years for example, the reduction of 15% per year becomes 45% over three years. So it's very significant,' Dr Dillbeck said.
