  14-vol7CP.jpg - A study conducted in Taiwan looked at various modes of intellectual performance in students before and after a time period where they either practised Transcendental Meditation or else slept for a short time or practising a comtemplative meditation. Researchers found, amongst students in the Transcendental Meditation group, increased creativity and increased practical intelligence. They also found increased field independence?the ability to maintain broad comprehension while focusing sharply. The group showed increased mental efficiency, or the ability to make very rapid decisions correctly, and increased abstract intelligence.
