In a country where millions of children are illiterate, and nearly half live in households with monthly incomes under $275, young people have every reason to feel worried about their future.

Enter the Transcendental Meditation® Programme.

Earlier this week in Brazil, a group of 3,500 meditating students assembled in their school’s antiquated gymnasium and transformed it into an arena of celebration. They gathered to honour Dr David Lynch and Donovan—and to express their gratitude for the gift of meditation. The children were gleeful and bright—lit from within—and having the time of their lives.

With the awe-inspiring organizing power of Raja Luis and the Teachers of Transcendental Meditation, over 40,000 children throughout Latin America have learnt to meditate. The David Lynch Foundation has provided them with this cutting-edge educational technology to overcome stress and tap their inner resources, to help them build a better life.

David Lynch, a champion of Consciousness-Based Education around the world, entered the gym to thunderous applause. ‘TM is a priceless diamond that each of you should cherish throughout your life,’ he told them, adding that he had not missed a twice-daily meditation in 35 years—‘and neither should any of you!’ Then David and the kids meditated for ten minutes (a really REALLY great experience!)

Donovan and local singing star Claudia wowed the kids with song and the school directors and teachers spoke. As the pictures show, the students were overjoyed. The event began at 3:30 and ended at 5:30. It was two-hours of bliss and happiness, and an event that the children will probably remember for the rest of their lives.
