20 November 2010 Under the guidance of Dr Peter Swan, international expert in Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture,* an organic vegetable garden is being established on the Maharishi Vedic Pandit campus at the Brahmasthan (auspicious geographic centre) of India. During a recent visit to the Global Capital of World Peace at the Brahmasthan, Dr Swan, along with a local team of experts and workers, used a tractor to plow the plot of land for the garden—land that had previously been compacted due to construction activities. The team removed stones and broken bricks, harrowed and broke up the soil, and created raised beds with irrigation channels in between. The group then prepared a traditional fertilizer for the garden, containing grass, pulverized stone, and other elements. 'These ingredients will allow microorganisms to multiply quickly in the water to be sent through the irrigation channels, and these microbes will then create food for the plants,' explained Dr Swan. In addition to the garden, the Maharishi Vedic Pandits enjoy a fresh water supply at their campus, obtained from local dams which have accumulated water during the rainy season. Also, agricultural experts use natural approaches to protect local trees from consumption by cows and goats. During his visit Dr Swan and many leaders of the Global Country of World Peace attended the Navaratri** celebration in the Brahmasthan of India conducted by Maharishi Vedic Pandits. (read more) |
