Up Belgium: Consciousness-Based Education expert tours five cities Slideshow

12 May 2013

Dr Ashley Deans, an expert with many years experience in the field of Consciousness-Based Education, toured Belgium earlier this year, speaking on its benefits for both students and educators. Dr Deans, Executive Director of Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment in Fairfield, Iowa, USA, and author of
A Record of Excellence, about Maharishi School, also holds the title of Global Ambassador of Consciousness-Based Education.

Over the last 30 years the Consciousness-Based Education curriculum has gained popularity around the world among both children and educators. In addition to regular classroom studies, schools utilize the Transcendental Meditation Quiet Time programme, which allows students and staff a short period at the beginning and end of each school day to practise this easily-learned, effective meditation technique.*

Dr Deans' five-city tour of Belgium started in Brussels with a well-attended and well-received press conference, and went on to visit the major Belgian educational centres and cities of Leuven, Ghent, Hasselt, and Antwerp, returning at the end to Brussels.

In Leuven, seat of one of the largest universities in Belgium, a substantial number of students and educators learned of the benefits of Consciousness-Based Education and how it works in a school. In Ghent, one of the largest cities in the country, many educators, administrators, and students attended Dr Deans' lecture. After the talk in Antwerp, Belgium's second largest city, members of the audience asked many good questions about how to implement the programme in their schools. The tour ended in Brussels at the Maharishi Invincibility Centre, where another large group attended Dr Deans' lecture, including many school administrators and principals. In addition to the lectures Dr Deans also met with school directors during the week. (read more)
