The most prestigious and widely read newspaper in Peru, The Puruvian, recently featured a full-page article on the Transcendental Meditation Programme and its benefits for education. This article was syndicated by several other Latin American newspapers and online news outlets.

The article highlights the very successful programme that has been going on high in the mountains of Peru in Puno, a small city on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Fifteen hundred students in six schools have been coming together each day for several years to practise the Transcendental Meditation and Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi—unfolding their full potential as individuals and creating invincibility for their nation.

The article recommends Transcendental Meditation for creating a more peaceful and coherent atmosphere within schools. It also cites the benefit of improved academic performance among students due to reduction of stress and development of full brain potential.

'The wave of influence created by The Peruvian article has resulted in a great expansion of interest since that newspaper attracts many influential readers,' said Dr Javier Ortiz, National Director of Peru for the Global Country of World Peace.

As a result of the article, Dr Ortiz was invited to make a presentation on Consciousness-Based Education to 800 teachers in the area of Lima. Following the lecture, 100 proposals were received from schools wishing to implement Consciousness-Based Education. A subsequent lecture already has 2,000 teachers registered to attend.
