Up Kenyan confernce in Washington, DC highlights Maharishi's Programmes Slideshow

At a recent conference for the Kenyan diaspora in Washington, DC, USA, experts in the health and education programmes offered by the Global Country of World Peace were invited to present their benefits for traditional African communities.

The title of the conference was Gotabgaa which means 'our homeland family'. The conference is an annual event for Kenyans living in the United States; speakers from Kenya, the US, and other countries speak on a range of topics of concern. The theme of this year's conference was 'Unite, Educate, Empower'. About 300 Kenyans attended, and it was also broadcast to an estimated 6 million listeners in western Kenya.

The distinguished panel of speakers included former President Chissano of Mozambique, a leader whom the Kenyans very much respect. He prepared a very compelling four-minute video that was both a personal testimony and a call to action, and spoke about the importance of creating unity in the nation through individuals learning the Transcendental Meditation Technique.

Other speakers included:

Dr George Rutherford, longtime pioneer of Consciousness-Based Education and principal of a school in Washington DC, USA, where students practise the Transcendental Meditation Programme, spoke about the students' great appreciation for their twice daily practice of Transcendental Meditation, and the resultant improvement in their school performance and behaviour.
