14 April 2010 New Zealand has seen great success in the establishment of Vastu buildings designed and constructed according to principles of Maharishi Vedic Architecture, and in schools the introduction of the Quiet Time programme, including the Transcendental Meditation Technique to staff and students, has brought positive results. Consciousness-Based Education in New Zealand schools At one school, beset with many difficulties (including 18 principals in 25 years), every staff member opted to participate in the Transcendental Meditation (TM) Programme after hearing an introductory presentation on Consciousness-Based Education. One week after the students learnt TM, parents were commenting on the 'overwhelmingly positive' changes in their children. Many of the students' families are now planning to learn the technique. The students, ranging in age from 5 to 12 years, amazed teachers by quickly becoming more settled in class, more focused, and behaving better on the playground.* To learn more about the Quiet Time programme and the benefits of the Transcendental Meditation Technique for reducing stress in the school environment, improving academic performance, and increasing students' well-being, see www.tmeducation.org.
