During the Guru Purnima Celebrations of July 2008 Global Good News celebrated its five-year anniversary by hosting picnics in both Fairfield, Iowa and Vlodrop, Holland. Attended by hundreds of daily visitors to the Global Good News website, quests enjoyed special new video presentations about the site's features followed by a dessert banquet.
